School Safety

Japanese Language School students are from diverse backgrounds. The school strives to keep harmony with the whole school community. Parents’ cooperation and support in safety areas are greatly appreciated. The school administration organizes “Toban” (rotating shift) for every school day to help supervise our children at break time. This is one of the essential parts of the parents’ supporting role. For the kindergarten and young students’ safety, at the beginning of the school year, the school provides the form to list people who are permitted to pick up the child. The school or the class teacher will not release a child to someone whose name is not on the list or who does not provide a photo ID.

Visitors to the school are welcome. However, they should make appropriate arrangements and get permission from school administration.

Discipline

The basic premise of discipline at OBT Japanese Language School is that students will behave in a way that will facilitate teaching and learning. Teachers are primarily responsible for classroom discipline and may refer students to the principal/administrator when appropriate. The school will also notify the parent/guardian to schedule a conference when necessary.

Dress Code

While OBT Japanese Language School’s dress code is casual, it reflects the weather, geography, and style of Ventura County. It places emphasis on comfort, practicality, and neatness. Graduation day is a dress up day. T-shirts, camisole/tank top, and jeans are not appropriate for this occasion.
